Waratah Wins Award at Forest Expo

2008-07-15
Winning awards for show exhibits is almost a habit for Waratah Canada, and the company's display at the recent Canadian Forest Expo was no exception. Waratah won second place for Best Outdoor Equipment Display at the biennial international show, held in June in Prince George, British Columbia.

Replete with native rock and pulp chips to outline the display, Waratah's exhibit featured a waterfall and pond as a backdrop for the complete lineup of 600 Series harvesters as well as the new 480 Multi-Tree handling cut-to-length harvester.

The exhibit gave visitors a chance to talk with the Waratah support team and to see some of the new harvesters that are taking the industry by storm.

The 624HD is equipped with enormous drive motors identical to those used by its big brother, the HGH 626 BigWood. These motors don't mess around; they pack more than 13,000 pounds of feed force.

As well, the harvester comes specially packaged with a 260,000-pound-capacity fixed-mount-style wrist bearing that is controlled by the carrier's tool cylinder.

The 624HD has power to spare for the biggest hardwoods, as well as maximum control for perfect log-decks that resemble firewood.

Together with an oversized hydraulic measuring wheel, this 624HD package offers contractors much more flexibility than a traditional butt-plate-style machine, plus increased production and uptime. Uses include processing and "hoe chucking" (shovel logging) in larger timber, as well as applications requiring more log handling than the average job.

Customers at the exhibit also tried their hand at the Waratah Virtual Simulator. It gave visitors an up-close look at the new Waratah TimberRite Measuring and Control system, which is an option available on all Waratah 400 series cut-to-length harvesters as well as on select 600 Series machines.

Following the week of the show, the Waratah Service Team provided two single-day Service and Trouble-shooting schools that were attended by more than 60 local contractors and their employees. Operators and mechanics received training that covered all aspects of maintenance, safety and trouble-shooting skills. The next show stop for Waratah Canada team members is Demo 2008 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to be held September 18 to 20.
